My name is Lydia Ernstsons and I am here to help.

I am an integrative therapist specialising in treating adults recovering from narcissistic abuse.

Now in my forties I have both my own extensive "lived in" experience as well as professional experience. I spent many years campaigning to raise public awareness in the UK of this abuse. I  have also worked in a women's centre counselling victims of domestic violence.

I work intuitively with the aim of really hearing and valuing you. We will work on your self-concept as well as developing your self-awareness and insight. This is a road towards healing, personal empowerment and peace. I have essentially developed a three-pronged approach to helping clients heal:

1) Let's explore together the dynamics of narcissistic abuse i.e how and why narcissistic individuals operate in the way that they do

2) Let's process the pain and trauma of what you have lived/are still living

3) Let's look at the body and your responses. Therapy is not just about talking, we need to look at how your nervous system is responding and work to calm it down. Anxiety, ruminating thoughts, an inability to sleep, chronic self-doubt, lack of a voice, people-pleasing etc are all ways that your body has adapted/reacted to the abuse.

Counselling is a safe space where your thoughts and feelings can be explored in a supportive, confidential and non-judgemental environment.  Narcissistic abuse does not have to define your life and taking the first courageous step to working on yourself in therapy can really lead to a new way of being.
